Military Couple Takes Maternity Photos While Husband is Deployed | Maternity | Miami, FL
Chances are, you've probably seen this picture. Well, guess what? That's right, I'm the photographer. Here at Jennifer Ariel Photography, we make magic happen. And that's just what happened with this story.
Veronica Phillips is a spouse of Brandon Phillips, who is part of the US Air Force. This means that Brandon is often sent away on deployments to defend our country. The couple is proud of his job, but upon marrying, realized there would be sacrifices.
This time, Brandon had to miss the pregnancy and birth of his first child, a baby boy.
Though the distance between is far, their love remains stronger than ever. Through distance, Veronica has incorporated her husband into every step of the pregnancy. Through sending ultrasounds and pictures of her baby bump, she decided having maternity photos with him would be a cherry on the top.
This is when Veronica contacted me with this wonderful idea. Little did I know that it would take the world by storm, capturing the hearts of millions. News stations made videos and articles by many.
“I wanted to honor my husband, and even though we are a far distance from each other, we are close in this picture. It symbolizes our love and commitment from afar.”
The maternity series we shot features a series with Veronica wearing Brandon's blouse, as well as her sporting a beautiful blue gown.
“She did an amazing job because the hand is actually on my belly which is hard to do,” Phillips said. “I teared up. It’s hard [with] him being away."
